Next stage of Stamford Hospital redevelopment

Published: 02nd March 2010

In November 2009 the Trust announced that to implement the Stamford and RutlandHospital clinical strategy* the Trust was looking to appoint technical advisors to assist it in developing the specification for the healthcare campus.

The Trust can now reveal that the new technical advisors will be announced within the next few weeks and that work to redevelop the site and the supporting building infrastructure could start in early 2011. The technical advisors will help the Trust to work with local people to develop the right hospital for Stamford.

Angela Broekhuizen, Associate Director – Projects, said: “Stamford and Rutland Hospital is an extremely important facility for the Trust to be able to deliver localised services for patients in and around the town. Plans to redevelop and expand the healthcare campus have been discussed for some time and we will now be in a position to continue to move these forward and we are excited about the appointment of the new technical advisors.

“Once the advisors have been appointed we will be in a position to release more information about what the plans involve and the local community will be invited to meet the advisors and discuss the proposals at a series of public events.”

Sue Brooks, Matron and Site Manager for Stamford Hospital, added: “This is excellent news for our patients and means that local people will soon start to see many changes at the hospital that they have been promised and get involved in developing these plans. Staff at Stamford Hospital are enthusiastic about the proposals which will mean that we will be able to provide more services locally and bigger and better facilities where they are needed.”

Notes to editors:

* The clinical strategy has set a broad framework for the future of the hospital including the types of new services that could be provided within a healthcare campus environment. To take this forward the Trust is looking to appoint technical advisors to assist it to develop the specification for the Stamford Hospital Healthcare Campus.
